Microsoft Merges With Yahoo Search

Microsoft has announced that they will finally join forces with Yahoo search in an attempt to gain market share from the global search giant, Google. Microsoft's new Bing search engine was already a new favorite search engine due to the daily photography and corresponding educational content provided with each image. Now we will wait and see if they actually improve on an industry that seems to have gone uber-lame many years ago. Imagine an engine that doesn't recommend Wikipedia, IMDB, or CitySearch.com every time you perform a search! Dare to dream.

Float the Puyallup River now!

The Puyallup River is so close, so full and such a good way to cool off on a hot day. We took kayaks from the junction of River Road and Hwy 167 all the way through the Port of Tacoma and across Commencement Bay to Dock Street in downtown Tacoma. You can park one car at Fred Meyer on River Road and another car at Dock Street, and you're set. The entire trip took about 4 hours, but we could have made it quicker if we had planned for the tides better. I highly recommend this float to anyone, especially in 100 degree heat. Seattle Mariners 4 Games Over .500 at the All-Star Break

Ken Griffey Jr., Ichiro, Wakamatsu and company have turned the corner heading into the midseason all-star break. 4 games over .500 and 4 games out of first place in the American League West - who'd have thunk it a month ago when they were averaging one run a game and seemingly losing 2-0 every night. Sustaining the lowest ERA in the west and elevating their batting average from the basement have worked wonders. Ichiro is on fire. Around here, RBI stands for "runs batted Ichiro". And all the players are saying that new manager Don Wakamatsu has created an ideal clubhouse environment to make a true run at the playoffs.

Full Kitchen Opens at Mandolin Cafe

Finally! Another restaurant in town with wi-fi, big tables, good coffee and good food. Thank heavens. You can now choose between soups, cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, several salads, meatballs, pasta and rotating oven-baked items like pot-pies, lasagna and tamale casserole.
