Tacoma 'Union Bank of California' Building For Sale

Downtown Tacoma's stately Union Bank of California Building on Pacific Avenue is for sale. 30,000 square feet of bank fortress, circa 1928, can be yours for $3.1M (price includes columns - original price reportedly $3,500 apiece). I had the good fortune of meeting the owner and taking a full spin through the place. For more details on my tour, click here.

Tacoma City Marathon

The Tacoma City Marathon was Sunday May 3rd, 2009. It goes without saying, marathon runners are intense. Here are some photos of these runners, starting with the winner - he was ahead of the entire field by 18 minutes at the 22 mile marker! While watching these folks run or walk past our watering station, I couldn't help but think the obvious: these people have already run 22 miles and they have 4 miles to go. This never ceases to amaze me.

Swine Flu

Lakes High School in Lakewood was closed Friday after learning that two of their students may have contracted the infamous "swine flu" that's blowing up the charts across the country. This was the first incident reported in a Pierce County school. Saturday morning it was announced that the students do NOT have this particular strain of the virus. False alarm.
