Tax Day
Record numbers of audits are expected from the IRS this year. Maybe that
explains all the extra time and care many people are putting into their tax
filing. Outside the Pine Street post office near the Tacoma Mall at 11:30pm,
dozens of people were lining up for parking and stamps and then visiting the
nice man with the timestamp in the drive-thru. This Tacoma post office was the
only one for miles around that collected mail curbside right up until the
midnight deadline. I especially enjoyed the guy in the taxi cab. 1/2 hour left to file your taxes, no car, no
stamps... TAXi!

Crystal Mountain Pass Deal
Crystal mountain is offering great deals to skiers and snowboarders interested in
the season pass for 2009/10. If you buy now, $587 (after tax) gets you an unlimited pass for
next season, as well as half-price tickets for the rest of this season. The
only catch is that you have to purchase in groups of four (4) people. So grab 3
pals and head up this week! I went today and it's deep. The conditions are
currently as good as they've ever been in mid-April. Don't forget to watch for
landslides and erosion along Hwy 410. I think unusual temperature fluctuation
this year caused repeated melting and freezing, conjuring up serious instability
. Here's a look at one of the biggest mudslides we found. It doesn't look like
much until you see it from the correct angle.

Winter Ends
The Olympics are loaded with snow and the sun is shining.
Not-so-typical: Has
anyone ever seen this view of the Tacoma Yacht Club? I've seen photos of TYC for
30 years, and never anything like this one (shot from the North Slope.)
Typical:
Temperatures go from snow to 70 in one week flat. Today will be the 2nd day in a row over
70 degrees, and the sunrise over the Port of Tacoma appears to say, "no more snow
for awhile" to this observer.

UFO Sighting in Tacoma, WA
Authorities are simply saying, "we do not know" regarding a possible explanation for the glowing grass on the bluff near 6th and Karl Johan in University Place. Neighbors' reactions have varied greatly, ranging from fear to fascination.
Exactly what happened two weeks ago? Conspiracy theories are popping up all over
Pierce County. The whole thing makes me want to re-watch the old filming of the moon landing. I just loved the lighting and special effects they used.
