Discussion:

Thanks for the information. Did you see the You Tube video on the Phoenix Arizona Santa's covering up a few surveillance cameras? Looks like Santa is sticking up for freedom from surveillance in our society! Let me know if we can do anything locally to get rid of these monstrosities. Every time I go past 56th & South Tacoma Way, I have this strange urge to give the camera a good spray paint job instead of my usual finger salute.

So not only are these red light cameras and tickets a complete joke to begin with, it appears they are also wasting courtroom time hearing details they already knew from the ticket being sent in. Why even have these people come to court if they are just going to drop the ticket anyway?? I say wasting peoples' time is just another way for them to pressure us to pay this crap instead of fighting it.  What a joke!

North Tacoma citizens,
I live in South Tacoma where most of these cameras are placed. I think the camera placements show total discrimination against South Tacoma, as most of the City Council and the Mayor live elsewhere in the city. Of course, I am totally against these red light cameras wherever they are placed. No doubt this is just the beginning of these cameras being placed throughout our city. It is another clear example of a further restriction of our freedom. What can be done? Are there any state initiatives to ban these cameras throughout the state? I see where Pierce County is now going forward with this same gimmick. Please let me know what I can do to oppose this government intrusion on our liberties.
Very Sincerely,
-JJ

You were right. Even though I [already] told them who was driving per the instructions, the ticket was dropped for the very reason I was not driving. There is something about the law here that no one is telling...?
Thanks,
-D

Let it be known: we are vehemently AGAINST traffic cameras. This is a nasty form of automated communism that must be stopped from proliferating itself throughout our fine city. We are doing our part to keep you informed so that you may avoid these intersections entirely.  If you have to travel these routes, be extra cautious to avoid contributing to this rubbish. Red light camera tickets are rumored to cost the owner of the vehicle $101.  It is also rumored that if you go to court and say that you were not the one driving, your ticket may be thrown out.  Can't hurt to try!  Commee Pig Dogs...
